Library Card Eligibility
Anyone age 5 and older may get a library card. Children 15 and under must have parent present when signing up for a library card. Young adults age 16 and older my get a library card independently.
To sign up for a free library card, you must visit any Lamar County Library System location and provide one form of identification and one proof of residency. You may join the Lamar County Library System for free even if you do not reside in Lamar County.
If you wish to get an Internet-Use Only library card, you only need identification. Please see the Requirements page for more information.
Any person may use materials in-house. To check out any materials (or to carry materials out of the library), patrons must obtain a library card. Anyone 16 years or older with Identification and a current proof of address may get a free library card.
