Become a Friend of the Library
* Effective March 01, 2008, members of our Friends groups will no longer be exempt from overdue fines or fees for materials that are late. Friends will still enjoy the month long check out time that they currently have.
The Friends of the Sumrall Public Library is a group of volunteers who, through various activities, provide support to the Sumrall Public Library as well as the Lamar County Library System.
The Friends of the Sumrall Public Library meet every first Monday of the month at 3:30 p.m. to discuss ways to help their library branch. Members of the Friends of the Library organization make the public more aware of the services and resources offered by the library. The Friends of the Sumrall Public Library also help promote special programs hosted by the library.
Benefits:
Responsibilities:
Some members may want to be more involved than others. You may want to pay annual dues and attend meetings, but not assist with a particular event or ongoing projects.
You may choose to become very involved: serve as a project director, secretary, or treasurer; attend local government meetings to urge city and county officials to invest in the library; lobby for and help raise funds to support, enhance, and expand library services. Each member decides how he or she will participate.
Ongoing Book Sale:
The Friends of the Sumrall Public Library have established an ongoing book sale cart in the library. New materials are updated as donations become available. Proceeds from the sale directly benefit the library.
